Wall Street Week Ahead: Supercharged telecom sector could become investor favorite
An overhauled telecommunications sector featuring most of the so-called FANG stocks could debut as Wall Street's hottest bet when it kicks off in September, boosted by a rising wave of media and television acquisitions. Long viewed as stodgy stocks for dividend-oriented investors, the telecom services sector (.SPLRCL) will be renamed communications services and supercharged with the addition of Facebook (FB.O), Netflix (NFLX.O) and Google-owner Alphabet (GOOGL.O) - three of the four FANGs, along with Amazon - as well as other companies that have driven the stock market to record highs in recent years. The changes are part of the largest-ever shakeup of the stock market's broad business categories.

These 5 Tech Giants Still Aren't That Expensive
Several tech giants still carry reasonable valuations -- at least after accounting for the impact of heavy near-term spending and/or business model transitions. Apple's revenue growth profile isn't as strong as that of some of the companies mentioned below -- the consensus is for Apple to see 14% revenue growth in fiscal 2018, but just 4% growth in fiscal 2019.

Waiting for Peter Thiel: big tech directors miss shareholder meetings
Some small investors who want to give a piece of their minds to big tech company directors are losing their only chance: many board members are skipping annual shareholder meetings. Companies that hold meetings online have some of the worst records for attendance. A large portion of Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O), Facebook Inc (FB.O), Netflix Inc (NFLX.O) and Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) directors have not attended annual shareholder meetings in recent years, company records and securities filings show, in some cases in growing numbers.

Everyone Should Hate Google Glass
After the device failed as a consumer item, Google started marketing it to industry, where it’s actually showing signs of becoming useful. In healthcare, for example, it can help doctors and nurses with the high-stakes task of dealing with myriad patients and getting all their details right. Such upsides, though, don’t mean that Google Glass will, on balance, be good for humanity. Consider flight attendants, whose work has some similarities to nursing.
